Lauren was nominated by our #iwill coordinator Jake McGovern for making a huge difference to her local community. By the end of December, she would have completed 3 social action projects in the space of just four months – well done Lauren!
"Lauren is part of the Hive Youth Zone’s Senior Volunteer Group. After completing a social action project last year with the Hive on mental health, Lauren jumped at the opportunity to not just participate in another project with #iWill but also to volunteer for the junior group every Wednesday evening as well as her great work on Thursdays. Lauren has been a great support on Wednesdays and has also been a superb participant on Thursday evenings. Lauren even took the lead to organise an event for refugees at the Hive on the 26th November.
Lauren has given her whole senior group inspiration and is also a massive role model to the junior group at the Hive having currently fundraised over £100 for her current fundraiser for Hearts for Refugees"
"The iwill campaign has helped me to develop many skills such as communication, confidence, and peer mentoring as I also supported the younger ones with their social action project".
"I have enjoyed every second of the social action projects, working on issues that affect our community, these included loneliness, homelessness and we also supported, fundraised, and welcomed refugees at an event at The Hive, a place they can feel safe and do activities they enjoy. I would like to say thank you to all the youth workers, especially Bex and Treena for supporting me through my journey, a massive thank you to my family who have been there for me and have been amazing, and lastly a thank you to Jake from the LFC Foundation for delivering amazing social action projects and being supportive and funny".
"Thank you LFC Foundation for the award and for giving young people the opportunity to make a difference".
Bex, one of the Youth Workers at the Hive said,
"Lauren has shown amazing commitment and passion for all the LFC iwill Campaigns that she has been involved with. She has gone above and beyond grasping every opportunity from fundraising, raising awareness, leading the team successfully through a planned event to peer mentoring the younger group to achieve great things within their chosen project. Well done, Lauren, you should be extremely proud of your role within the campaigns, making sure young people have a voice and continue to make a positive difference within their community".
"The Hive is just one of our 5 Foundation community hubs, where we work in collaboration with the centre to provide extra activities and sessions for the young people".
