Sir Kenny’s 7Appeal Delivers Much-Needed Essentials for Local Families

Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish joined LFC Foundation staff to pack hampers of essential items for babies and young children at Anfield.

Funded by proceeds from the 7Appeal, the hampers will be delivered to families in need across the Liverpool City Region and is part of the Reds’ community Christmas campaign ‘LFC Operation Christmas Magic’, which provides support to thousands of local people and families throughout the festive period.

The 7Appeal was established in honour of Sir Kenny’s 70th birthday last year and aims to raise funds for young families across the city who are struggling to afford basic essentials for their new baby or young children.

Sir Kenny Dalglish said: “I wanted to use the 7Appeal to help as many families with young children as possible. With the cost of living rising and Christmas just around the corner, many families are finding it impossible to cope. I’m so pleased to see the proceeds from the 7Appeal going towards providing some of these crucial items for families in need.”

Working collaboratively alongside the LFC Foundation, the 7Appeal raised over £15,000, which has gone towards purchasing hamper items, such as baby bathing and changing bundles, baby clothing essentials, and cots.

Liverpool Football Club's official family partner, Joie Baby, have also got involved with the 7Appeal, generously donating 15 mimzy snacker highchairs and 20 wish bouncers. Managing Director at Joie, David Welsh, said: “The work that the 7Appeal does is going to make a real difference to parents across the Liverpool City region who are finding it difficult to cover the rising cost of raising their families. We at Joie Baby are humbled to be a part of this fantastic cause and are delighted to be able to provide families with some much-needed baby basics.”

Beneficiaries of the 7Appeal will include the Liverpool Women's Hospital, Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Early Help Sefton, and the local food bank pantries who are part of the Red Neighbours community network.

Matt Parish, chief executive, LFC Foundation, added: “The 7Appeal aims to deliver help to those who need it most. This time of year can be especially tough for families with young children, and this year even more so. It’s been a pleasure to work with Sir Kenny, and our partner Joie Baby, to support local people at this challenging time.”
