#iWill: Train the Trainer

On the 11th of May, The LFC Foundation's #iwill Social Action team hosted a Train the Trainer CPD event for local teachers and youth workers at Anfield Stadium.

The Train the Trainer event was designed to teach professionals how to promote and embed youth social action in their classrooms and youth centres. It provided delegates with practical ideas and support, as well as the opportunity to upskill themselves and look at successful case studies from previous work done by the LFC Foundation's #iwill team.

Participants could also network and discuss what kinds of social action projects would work well and meet the needs of their own young participants. There was also time set aside to consider what future assistance the LFC Foundation could provide.

In collaboration with our #iwill team, Rachael Kearney of Grassroots Consultants Ltd, designed and delivered the training. Every delegate received a toolkit booklet to annotate and keep. This toolkit included useful advice, a flexible example of a social action work scheme, and key contact information for future collaboration and support.

Rachel went on to say: The event was all about upskilling the workforce to enable young people to receive the best possible outcomes from the #iwill project. We encouraged all participants to be brave and let go of the reigns, let young people lead and be there to facilitate their journey. Magic happens when adults allow young people to become the educators and the event was all about exploring what meaningful participation means and how to embed it into everyday practice. It was an amazing event for formal and informal educators to share a safe space to learn from each other.”

Ste Hale, #iWill programme Manager, said “This event was a vital step in the evolution of the #iwill Social Action programme at the LFC Foundation. Whilst it gave us the opportunity to reflect on the excellent work we have done so far, it also provided us with the chance to look towards the exciting future that the programme has. I wish to Thank all who attended for taking time out of their extremely busy schedules and for engaging so passionately on the day. I would also like to Thank Rachael Kearney and the LFC Foundation #iwill social action team for making the event such a great success.”
