Premier League Kicks Girls participants complete PL Changemakers programme

PL Changemakers

The Changemakers Programme is leadership programme funded by the Premier League, who’s aim is to empower, inspire and develop leadership qualities in girls aged 11 to 17.

Our first cohorts of girls who were to take part in the 12-week leadership, social action and empowerment programme were  selected from our PL Kicks programme.

Our Kicks cohort started in the summer and finished the programme at the end of September. The programmes main focus was for participants to achieve their full potential and lead positive change in their communities in relation to gender equality and mental health.

The project aims to improve participants mental and physical wellbeing, increase their awareness of gender equality and mental health related issues, and increase their understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviours of successful leadership.

The sessions were delivered on a fortnightly basis since July and after every session, the group had a football session which was led by a different participant each week.

As a result of the sessions, the group devised their own social action project to raise awareness on something they felt was relevant, worthwhile and important to then and to many people around them. They decided to travel the distance of Madrid to Anfield, where the girls has the option to either walk, run, cycle or swim to accumulate the miles.

They successfully completed their challenge and raised over £500. All proceeds went to local mental health charity YPAS.

Fantastic work everyone!
