LFC Foundation celebrates #iWill Week 2021

This #iWill week (22nd - 26th Nov), The LFC Foundation are celebrating the #PowerOfYouth and championing social action made by the amazing young people in our communities.

The LFC Foundation is passionate about social action and believes that every young person has the potential to make a positive difference in their local communities, help to build a better future and be the leaders of tomorrow. As a partner of #iwill, we embed support for youth social action across our programmes, culture, and practice.

What is #will?

The LFC Foundation’s #iwill programme is a 12-week youth led programme designed to empower children and young people to identify, prioritise and tackle issues within their communities. The #iwill programme gradually empowers young people to tackle social issues and support good causes by either campaigning for change, volunteering, peer educating and mentoring or via fundraising for charity.

See what we’re up to this #iWill week.

Abbots Lea love social action!

Our SEN provision in Abbots Lea have been tackling the issues they care about the most this #iwill week.

The two groups chose to tackle mental health and homelessness as their social action project and are both very passionate about using the tool of campaigning to raise awareness of both topics.

To help them with their campaigning, the groups have been designing posters and t-shirts to communicate the importance of giving respect and kindness to other people.

Some focused on the importance of being an individual and being confident in yourself.

Alongside campaigning, both groups will be making care packages to give out to students at the school and to clients of Whitechapel centre which will be filled with useful items and handwritten cards. They are also working to collect important donations for White Chapel Centre and have shown amazing passion for social action and vocalise regularly just how powerful youth voice is.

Youth Panel raise £500

The LFC Foundation Youth Panel recently walked up Moel Famau in North Wales to raise vital funds for the local community. They managed to raise £500 to create shoeboxes to help put a smile on the faces of those who need our help the most.

Following the fundraising walk, the panel have since chosen what items they would like to give out as part of their Christmas shoebox appeal. The boxes will include items for the whole family including games and crafts that they can do together over Christmas. Their aim is to distribute 50 boxes to families in our community in the North Liverpool Community. We wish them all the luck.

LFC Foundation Promise

In 2020, our CEO, Matt Parish, signed the Power of Youth Charter on behalf of The Foundation as a commitment to embracing and embedding youth voice across our programmes.

Here is our #IWillWeek21 Foundation pledge.
