This week, our sports development team were busy delivering football camp across 4 sites in Kirkby, Anfield Sports and Community Centre (ASCC), the Tiber Centre and Netherton Activity Centre. We saw over 418 children join us across the week where there was lots of fun, socialising and football skills.
Our PL Kicks team provided Kicks Football + for 10 of their participants who regularly attend our Wednesday evening football sessions at ASCC. Kicks Football + is a 3-day educational programme ran in partnership with the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and involves a mixture of diversionary workshops and team building exercises for the children to take part in. Those taking part were able to learn vital life skills and take part in a nutrition session led by The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts. The participants also visited The National Football Museum in Manchester where they took part in a football history workshop and even worked with a designer to make their very own football.
Our U18’s Foundation team, who regularly train with us on a Wednesday evening represented The Foundation in a friendly fixture vs Warrington Rylands last Thursday. The team put a up a great fight, and it was great for those taking part to finally pull on a Liverpool FC shirt in only the second fixture since lockdown restrictions were eased!
On Friday 4th June the Kicks delivery team took part in a CPD training day to share and develop new ideas to help maintain a high-quality provision across the programme. The staff took part in classroom and practical sessions which will contribute towards the return of our evening sessions which return this week (week commencing 7th June.)
Alongside this, the team also had guest speakers from Roadpeace including Charlie Fogarty MBE who delivered an inspirational and motivational presentation with the message of never giving up and that anything in life is possible. For more information visit: https://www.charliefogarty.co.uk/
Our Sports Works team are well underway with our first Kickstart placements as the group completed their third week! The group spent time completing a training day consisting of a debate session linked to professionalism and identifying common issues in the workplace – there were some really thought-provoking opinions! They then looked at creating SMART targets to identity areas of development. We can’t wait to see the rest of their journey.
Our Youth Works programme launched during half term! We welcomed 5 participants onto our Youth Apprentice Kickstart Scheme and the group began their journey with some essential training including a first aid qualification.
Our Soccer School have just completed week 7 out of 10 of their programme and spent half term with a tour around Anfield and chatting about careers within sports.
Our Military Vets had their first boxing fitness session with local boxer Derry Mathews last week – the Vets were put through their paces in the gym, learning the basics of boxing and completing a circuit created by Mathews. This is an 8-week programme in partnership with Maverick Stars.
Missed out on our half term fun? We have football and multi sport sessions for all ages, genders and disabilities every day! Check them out here
