LFC Foundation launches new Player Development Programme

Player Development Programme

The Reds official charity, the LFC Foundation, will launch its new Player Development Programme (PDP) today, which aims to deliver a unique football development offer for boys and girls ages seven to fourteen of all skills and abilities.

The Programme aims to have a clear focus on development of its players, working together alongside coaches, grassroots clubs and leagues across Liverpool city region.
The PDP will provide a curriculum of football influenced by learning how to play ‘The Liverpool Way,’ as a core framework, to help improve participants, regardless of their current skill level and ability.
Focused on creating experiences that will we shape the participant’s progression into young adults, the team are passionate about helping the next generation of talent.
The Foundation will also launch its ‘Mini Players’ Programme, an extension of the PDP that works on providing an introduction to football to the game’s youngest players.
Mini Players teaches the fundamentals of football, basic movement and techniques and is designed to create a fun, supportive and friendly environment for four- to six-year-olds.
Mini Players will children learn the physical and social benefits of the game, developing all areas of the FA’s Four Corner Model: Technical, Social, Physical & Psychological.
Karl Carney, LFC Foundation Football Development Manager was asked about what makes the PDP different, saying;
‘Our Programme is so much more than football. Players will receive performance analysis through our specialised technology, ensuring advanced developmental feedback is shown to the player.
Player’s will receive a Player Development Diary, giving participants the opportunity to provide self-reflection, receive coach feedback and track their progress over the months in a structured format.’
Matt Parish, LFC Foundation CEO said;
We’re delighted to launch the PDP and Mini Players, as we continue to expand and improve our football offering across the city region, with both paid-for and free initiatives.
The PDP is designed to help children take their football game ‘to the next level’, but beyond this, we hope to create experiences for participants that will shape their character as they transition into young adults, giving them the tools and skills to take what they learn in the programme and apply this to other life situations.
We understand the growing demand for high quality football provision, for all genders and abilities, and hope that with this step we can help more aspiring footballers reach their goals.
