Every year, the Open Goals Foundation team host an amazing festive walk around Stanley Park with lots of fun and activities along the way that families can take part in. However, this Christmas, the team had to rethink how they would still bring some Christmas magic to their wonderful participants - cue our virtual Winter Wonderland event.
Prior to the day, the families who had signed up to the event were gifted a Christmas themed stocking, which included arts and crafts to be used during the event and even the Christmas story book that would be featured during the story time section. . The stockings were just one way to say thank you to our loyal participants across the Foundation and to make the day as special as possible.
A huge thanks to our Open Goals team for providing the fun and activities for our sell-out event, which included over 50 families taking part in a Winter Warm Up, followed by Reindeer Arts and Crafts and more family fun with festive games. The day ended with a Christmas story time with Jess from The Bookworm Players who had a very special guest all the way from the North Pole – Father Christmas.
The day was a success with glowing reviews from families who had took part, with one parent commenting on how the sessions had allowed them to spend some quality family time doing simple activities at home and promised that they would definitely make the time to play more silly games and activities together in the future.
Liverpool FC's official mascot Mighty Red also joined in the fun, taking part in the activities live from Anfield Stadium!
Our priority is always to make sure that our participants have fun and feel welcome and there was a great community spirit during the event.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our Winter Wonderland event and we will see you in 2021.
