Throughout the remainder of August and September, those most in need within Anfield and Kirkby will continue to receive the freshly prepared, nutritious meals.
The meals, which are prepared by chefs on site at Anfield, offer a range of vegetarian and gluten-free options, including leek and potato soup, katsu chicken curry and braised rice, vegetable Cornish pasty, pasta bolognese, and a trio of cakes.
Food poverty has been identified as one of the club’s three main pillars of need throughout the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, alongside social isolation and support for the NHS and key workers.
Forbes Duff, Red Neighbours manager, said: “Throughout this challenging period, it’s essential that we continue our support across the local community.
“The pandemic has hit many local people and families hard, and food poverty is a very worrying issue. We hope that by continuing to provide 4,000 meals every month, we can help support those most in need in our local communities.”
Since March, LFC Foundation and the Red Neighbours team have arranged a range of initiatives to help combat food poverty, from providing more than 3,400 people with breakfast parcels, to assisting with the distribution of more than 25,000kg of food from North Liverpool Foodbank to help the most vulnerable.
